Every March we hold our famous Gumboot Day for locals and visitors with Gumboot throwing competitions, good music, great stalls, and fun entertainment for the whole family.
Taihape has many great attributes! When you are hungry and need to refuel we have some fabulous Cafes and Eateries to cater to your needs. If you wish to stay over there are several accomodation options to choose.
As for things to do in Taihape well, where do we start?? How about the famous Mokai Gravity Canyon a mere 20 minutes drive from Taihape – a thrilling bungy jump, bridge swing, flying fox ride, or chairlift should see ya right.
Or perhaps you’d enjoy a trip out to River Valley to enliven the spirit with some white water rafting, or scenic rafting. For the quiet nature loving types there’s plenty of trout fishing to be done at Green Trout Guiding and Tarata Fishaways.

After all that adventure you could get your walking shoes on and take a walk on someof the stunning walking tracks in the area - you’ll witness some of New Zealand’s best scenery and rivers and cycle rides.
