Getting Here

Driving

State Highway 1 runs right through the Rangitikei District and State Highway 3 runs along the western border from Bulls to Wanganui. Stop at an Information Centre and pick up a District Visitor Map for all the driving information you'll need.  On the reverse side of this detailed district map you'll find maps for the main towns.

Airports

If your coming into New Zealand from overseas then you will probably land at an International destination, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch.  The two closest domestic airport to Rangitikei are located in Palmerston North and Wanganui. The larger of these is Palmerston North.  Both airports are approximately 30 minutes from a main town in the Rangitikei.

Buses

The Tranzit Intercity Bus stops in Bulls at their Intercity Bus Terminal and Marton and Taihape by arrangement.  Other bus services to parts of the Rangitikei include The Naked Bus and Kiwi Experience. Contact the Rangitikei Information Centres for timetables and ticket purchasing.

The Train

The Overlander Service will stop in Marton or Taihape by arrangement. Contact Kiwi Rail for information and ticket purchases.

Rachel's Bus

Rachel's Passenger Services or "Rachel's Bus" operates out of The Hub Cafe in the adventure town of Mangaweka. Contact Rachel to arrange transfers around the Rangitikei, to and from Airports, and around Rangitikei's Cycle Trails.
