Rangitikei High School DVD Challenge
The Rangitikei Region is part of a Major Regional Initiative which focuses on tourism promotion under the Te Kahui Tupua Sacred Peaks brand, marketed under The Chosen Pathways - Majesty, Exhilaration, Enchantment, Legacy and Expression.  |
Turakina Maori Girls won the 2009 challenge and they intend on retaining their winning title at this years premier evening.

The Rangitikei River Loop Cycle Classic

The cycle classic consists of a 100 km and a 43 km ride that commences in rural Hunterville, a service town on SH1 in the Rangitikei and circuits around the scenic Rangitikei River.  A childs race will be introduced in 2010.

The Hunterville Huntaway Festival
A celebration of the work the trusty and loyal farm dogs do for their masters, the Shepherd's Shemozzle is the feature event, where shepherds and their dogs compete in one of the most bizarre competitions you are likely to see.  Part of the challenge includes swimming with eels, and eating sheep testicles!

This event includes Highland and National Dancing (both Scottish and Official Board of Highland Dancing and New Zealand Academy), Pipe Band competitions, solo piping & drumming, traditional Highland Field Events, children's fun events, the annual Wanganui Harrier Club Road Race, Clan tents, merchant's stalls, food and beverage on site and evening entertainment including a traditional haggis ceremony.
