Cycle Trails

Rangitikei's cycle trails range from challenging for the most experienced cyclist to easy-going day rides for the novice or a family outing.

You can choose to ride the entire length of the district over several days, staying in accommodation ranging from boutique farmstays and B&B's to backpackers and camping grounds, or arrive in town and ride a loop trail, bringing you back to base. Rangitikei's friendly towns provide cyclists with all their equipment and refreshment needs.

The Gentle Annie

This 136km ride takes cyclists from Taihape, the northern gateway to the Rangitikei District, across the Gentle Annie to Fernhill in the Hawke’s Bay.

A remote, multi-day ride that traverses picturesque high country sheep stations, untouched rugged river valleys and boutique vineyards between the Central North Island and the East Coast.  These two regions are worlds apart in their natural heritage and landscapes, offering a challenging but exhilarating ride that is not for the faint hearted.
